Circle Overwatch Data Sources and Limitations
Circle Overwatch is built around public and official source families. The app aims to make those signals more usable, but it does not own the underlying government, policing, weather, or emergency datasets.
Main source families
- Police and public crime datasets for recent crime categories and trends.
- Postcodes.io and geographic lookup data for UK postcode context.
- Environment Agency flood information where available.
- Open weather data for current weather, temperature, and wind signals.
- Official UK national security threat level context.
Known limitations
Data can be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, aggregated, or different by region. A missing alert does not prove there is no risk. A visible alert does not prove that every nearby address is affected.
Circle Overwatch is a safety awareness product. For emergencies, official reporting, or time-critical decisions, use emergency services and official source channels.
